Pilates Rehab

At Holistic Physical Therapy Services, we have created a unique Pilates Rehab Approach to address musculoskeletal and neurological imbalances. Developed in the 1920's by Joseph Pilates, Pilates is a method of exercise and movement designed to stretch, strengthen and balance your whole body. With a systematic approach to breathing and retraining of core muscle activation, Pilates has proven itself invaluable not only as a fitness method, but as an integral tool in all realms of physical rehabilitation .

We are following Joseph Pilates Authentic Method, utilizing the Pilates Reformers and other Pilates equipment during the rehab process. The equipment allows us to train the core muscles effectively and with little discomfort. We also add gentle home exercises to our rehab program.

The benefits of Pilates include :

  • Building strength without adding excess muscle bulk
  • Improving flexibility, coordination and balance
  • Creating core strength, that is strengthening the abdominal, pelvic, hip, buttocks and low back muscles
  • Correcting old postural patterns and replacing them with more efficient ways to move the body
  • Preventing and treating osteoporosis

Pilates can transform the way your body looks, feels and performs . It is safe for every body including pregnant women. Pilates is a true mind-body method that allows you to become more connected with your movement patterns. When you are able to control and position your body during functional activities, the body is better able to heal. We have found that our method promotes injury prevention and improved health and well being.

At Holistic Physical Therapy Services Inc. we offer this approach during your rehabilitation process. You will learn specific home exercises, and also use our state of the art Pilates rehab gym to progress with your rehab program. We also offer Pilates Rehab Classes to those clients who are ready to advance to a more challenging setting. Each Rehab class is run by one our physical therapists.

Once you have completed your rehab program, you may choose to participate in Pilates classes offered through our Holistic Pilates and Fitness Studio.
